On Sunday, 23rd February at 7pm GMT I joined Trek America on Twitter for an hour to co-host their very first Twitter chat, Ask the Trexpert and Trek HQ! As an existing and passionate Trekker, I was thrilled to participate in this and I love that they think of me as their Trexpert – see what they did there? 😀

We had a lot of fun answering questions from both existing members of the Trek community and Trek newbies, i.e. those thinking of taking the plunge and joining a Trek America tour.
Trek America offered a goody bag prize for the best question, which was won by Katie Loular, for this question:
On the road with Trek America
In the last few years I’ve been on the road 6 times with Trek and each road trip has been amazing and worth every penny, so it’s always good to spread a little Trek-love and encourage anyone who might be feeling nervous about travelling, maybe for the first time or solo.
My first Trek was in October 2009, Westerner 2, which is a two-week camping trek that starts and ends in Los Angeles, California and took us into Nevada, Arizona and Utah too. Following that first trek, I made this little video with iMovie from photos of our road trip – it’s jammed full of photos because we did so much in those 2 weeks; every single day was fun, memorable and amazing!
Catch up with the Trexpert Q&A
If you missed the Ask the Trexpert and Trek HQ chat on Twitter, you can catch up with a summary of the best questions and answers as Trek HQ have created a Storify summary about the event, so you don’t need to use Twitter to read it.
More Trexpert tips
Although this site is full of tips you might find useful if you are road trippin’ with Trek America, I’ve decided to include a Trexpert section where you will find tips specifically written for my fellow trekkers.
